
Every bill consists of numbers of rows and columns. Each one of them displays a different number or figure.
In order to know the total amount of your bill, you've first to know what are the main elements of it.
The followings are the main elements of each bill:
Knowing that 10k.v.a = 100amp. / 110v & 50amp. / 220v.

5) TVA Tax = to 10% of the total amount of the above mentioned elements (1, 2, 3&4).
Finally the total amount of your bill that you should pay is equal to the sum of the elements (1, 2, 3, 4 &5).

How to read my meter?
There are many different types of meters, but all of them, whether digital or mechanical, serve to measure your energy consumption by using cumulative meters.
The mechanical type (which is used in Lebanon on a wide scale) has a metallic wheel which keeps on rotating as long as the subscriber consumes energy.
The number that the meter displays is the cumulative number of kilowatts-hours consumed from the date of installation of the counter.
Some meters have special counters whose index should be multiplied by 10. For more details on how to read your meter, don't hesitate to ask any of EDL's collectors to help you understand your meter better.

My neighbors have power, why don't I?
Sometimes there's a blown fuse in a transformer or damage done to the line serving your home. But we also may have to isolate a small section of line to work on a problem, even while power has been restored to other parts of the same line.
Do certain customers get priority in having their power restored after an outage?
When several customers living within the same neighborhood are affected during a storm, or other cause of power failure, they are generally served by a common line repairing this line means restoring power to all customers affected simultaneously. When customers living within the same neighborhood are affected, different factors such as total time without power and distance from the working crew are taken into consideration. When scattered outages occur we do give weighted consideration to people on life support systems.
