Paying a bill There are two ways to pay bills: 1) By direct payment to EDL's collector who is responsible for visiting the subscriber at his address in order to collect the bill. If the collector is unable to collect your bill upon his first visit for any reason (e.g. nobody at home or the required amount of money is not available), he leaves a note in order to inform the subscriber when he will be back to collect the bill (usually within 3 days). If the collector is still unable to collect the bill upon his second visit, he returns the bill to EDL, and a warning notice asking the subscriber to pay the bill within a period of 10 days is sent out. The subscriber are also assessed an extra charge (LBP 6 000 for delayed payment and LBP 2000 for the warning notice). In case bill payment is till unaffected by the end of the 10-day period, the subscriber’s meter is disconnected from the power grid (i.e. electrical current is be cut OFF). In order to restore the current, an amount of LBP 12 000 (including a LBP 1000 stamp) has to be disbursed. The current is usually restored within 24 hours. 2) By payment to any bank in Lebanon by allowing the bank to automatically debit the subscriber’s account. By choosing this method of payment, the subscriber avoids the possibility of being charged for any payment delay. Tip: save your time and your money by paying your bills regularly and on time. |
